ATX Music Series: Trio Los Vigilantes

Thursday, April 15 at 8pm

Bolero Centro is Trio Los Vigilantes’ artist-led cultural heritage project dedicated to both performing and preserving the living tradition of the Latin vocal trio. It begins with performance, but it does not end there. The music creates the emotional space. The audience brings the memories. The trio then adds those stories to Bolero Centro’s growing archive, preserving the cultural context around the songs for future generations.

The evening begins with a concert. But Trio Los Vigilantes also intentionally makes room for audience members to share what the music means to them. Those stories become part of a growing community archive that connects songs, memories, families, places, and traditions over time.

Rooted in the bolero traditions of Mexico, Cuba, and Latin America, the trio’s voices blend, separate, and return to one another. Requinto and trumpet punctuate the rhythmic progressions carried by guitar, while cello provides bass and percussion simultaneously. Their Bolero Centro performance at The Rosette is a rare chance not just to hear the music up close, but to encounter the stories, memories, and cultural connections that give it meaning — and even contribute your own.
