ATX Music Series: Nossas Novas

Nossas Novas ("Our News") is an Austin-based Brazilian music project fronted by Brazilian American vocalist and musician Sonia McLaughlin. Inspired by Brazil's vibrant bossa nova and tropicália movements rooted in Rio de Janeiro, the band playfully weaves together samba, jazz, and rock into a fresh, contemporary sound.

Nossas Novas has performed throughout Austin and beyond, including residencies at Sagebrush, St. Elmo Brewing Company, and C-Boy's Heart & Soul, as well as appearances at restaurants, cocktail lounges, private events, and festivals. The band has had the honor of opening for acclaimed Brazilian artists such as Marcos Valle.

The group features five core musicians: Sonia McLaughlin (vocals), Vijay Meunier (guitar), Dan Peters (piano), Alan Uribe (bass), and Bruno Vinezof (drums and percussion). Together, they bring an authentic yet playful approach to Brazilian music, celebrating its rich traditions while inviting new audiences into its vibrant rhythms and melodies.

ATX Music Series offers a premium listening room experience with ample free parking, a convenient central location in the Hyde Park neighborhood, a gorgeous intimate space, and outstanding acoustics. These events are BYOB. Water, ice, cups, and a corkscrew are provided. Please note: The Rosette is situated in a historic building, and seating in the balcony requires walking up a flight of stairs.
