ATX Music Series: Chirag Katti & Gourisankar Karmakar, Sitar and Tabla
CANCELLED
ATX Music Series is thrilled to present Chirag Katti, a Mumbai-based sitarist among the next generation of eminent Indian classical music artists, alongside a hometown treasure: the Austin-based internationally recognized tabla maestro Pt. Gourisankar Karmakar. Marking their first time playing together, they invite you to sample the storied North Indian classical music tradition through a baithak-style experience that is uniquely possible in the intimacy of The Rosette Theater.
Touring extensively throughout India and the US, Chirag is a supreme concert artist who has been trained by his father, Pt. Shashank Katti. An ‘A’ grade artist of All India Radio (AIR), he has been featured twice on AIR’s prestigious National Program, most recently in 2024. Beyond offering classical concerts, he leads a fusion project that blends musical genres, records sitar for film scores, and has performed with symphony orchestras. After a successful 8-state sitar duet tour in the fall, he is returning to the US this spring for his first-ever Texas appearance right here at The Rosette!

A ‘Top’ grade All India Radio artist, he has been under the tutelage of tabla maestro Pt. Sankha Chatterjee since 1979. He has toured for over 30 years with a playing style that combines the Farukhabad, Punjab and Delhi schools of tabla artistry. His own artistry has even extended into cross-genre collaborations with other world-class international artists. Hear his mind-blowing talent here.
