Renting the Rosette
OVERVIEW OF THE SPACE
A red neon ROSETTE sign marks the exterior entrance to the venue, located in the northwest corner of the Baker Center. Outside is a welcoming patio area, with picnic tables and benches under a towering pecan tree and festive string lighting. Guests enter into the lobby/box office area and proceed down the hallway gallery, where they can access the theater or continue past it to the lounge and gallery. Stairs lead up to additional lounge space as well as the balcony section of the venue. (Please note: the second floor lounge area and balcony section are NOT wheelchair accessible).
A set of doors lead from the lounge into the hallways of the Baker Center’s lower level, a common area still lined with lockers from the many decades the building served as a public school. The hallways contain several restrooms, including two ADA/Inclusive, two women’s, and two men’s.

FIX
The Rosette has no fixed seating and can accomodate custom floor plans,, making it easy to plan a layout best suited for the event. As a reference, for events calling for conventional, theater-style seating, the venue can comfortably accommodate a total of 85 people in this arrangement. This layout incorporates several adjustable cocktail tables, and accommodates up to 69 guests. The Rosette team will work with you to come up with the best layout for your needs.
Manager-on-Duty (MOD): The MOD is a Rosette staff member who is assigned to your event. They will be your point of contact on the day of your event. They will: set up the venue space as agreed in pre-production planning, unlock the venue, be on the ground to answer any questions you may have the day of, be your point of contact in case of building emergency and know where to find basic lobby and front of house needs, turn on basic technology equipment, and help with load-in and load-out. Please Note: Although the MOD will try and help you in the space in any way they can, they are not trained audio, lighting, or video engineers.
Basic Equipment Access: Equipment that can be accessed is outlined in the sections below. The MOD can do the following: turn on the sound system for two wireless mics, turn on the lighting board and create 1 lighting look for your event, and set up basic front-of-house/lobby equipment. Please note: if you are doing a technically complex show the baseline rental fee does not include audio, lighting, or video engineers. You may bring in your crew to operate the equipment in the venue (with the approval of the Director of Production & Venue Operations) or you can contract trusted engineers through the venue manager. Most of the Rosette engineers are $25 to $35/hr.

Pre-Event/Tech Advisement: Our team is here to help you have a successful event, and will happily assist with pre-event planning, technology, and more. Lobby and House
Rentals include use of tables, chairs, and other items listed here.
Food and drinks are permitted and welcome at The Rosette. The Rosette staff does not schedule or handle catering for guests. We recommend Central Market, New World Deli, or Quack's Bakery for your food needs; all are less than a mile from the venue. Additionally, Central Market and New World Deli deliver.
The Rosette does not have its own kitchen or food prep area. There is a small communal kitchen adjacent to the space with a refrigerator, microwave, and toaster oven, but these are not intended for commercial use and space is limited. For larger quantities of food and drinks, we recommend you bring your own coolers and ice.
Alcohol is permitted at The Rosette. To comply with state law, if you are planning to serve alcohol to guests at your event, it can only be served by a TABC-licensed server. The TABC license must be provided to the venue manager for review prior to the event. Otherwise, guests can bring their own alcohol, or serve themselves alcohol provided by the host.
Green Room: The Rosette has a small Green Room/artists’ lounge. It can comfortably accommodate 3 to 4 people and is outfitted with a couch, chairs, a mini-fridge, drip coffee machine, electric kettle, full length mirror, and steamer.

Other things of note
HVAC/Air Conditioning: The HVAC system cannot be completely disabled. Noise has not posed an issue during live concerts (including our classical guitar concerts, which require a quiet performance space), but the ambient sound from the system might be a concern during recording sessions. We have had good luck recording 1 to 2 minutes of hall noise during recording sessions (the HVAC noise does not vary) that can later be RX7/de-noised out.
Backstage: There is no dedicated backstage area at the Rosette. However, we have a broadcast room that doubles as an artist/speaker staging room during shows. We have had good luck with this setup for concerts and events.
