Ex-Aequo presents a very special concert featuring six of the top young guitarists from around the world! Their colorful program will include the world premiere of a piece called Six by Six, commissioned by Sergio Assad as part of their Emerging Artists Initiative.

The Emerging Artists Initiative is a groundbreaking concept where six of the most talented and highly awarded guitarists under the age of 25 will perform in concert together, collaborate on an album and premiere a new work by one of the most important Brazilian composers alive, Sergio Assad. These artists were selected not only for their ability to perform virtuosic music on their instrument but also for their musical sensibility, ability to connect with audiences and their individual character as interpreters of music. The group of artists selected come from around the world and are playing pieces from a range of cultural backgrounds and time periods, as well as new pieces which were written for, or composed by the performers themselves. The result is a dynamic program of music with each piece being played by a performer whose connection to the music is deep and authentic, culminating with the premiere of “Six by Six” by Sergio Assad who has coached the group on their performance of this innovative new work.
